One important reason that glaucoma continues to cause vision loss is poor medication adherence. Better medication adherence lead better results in the glaucoma care process. the eyeGuide is a study to evaluate the impact of two personalized technology-based behavior-change programs that may help patients remember to take their glaucoma medication.
What I do
I took in charge of finalizing eyeGuide website, and I designed some of visual components such as icons and introductory videos for established website.
- Complete visual components of eyeGuide website
- Create glaucoma introductory videos
Understand Glaucoma Project
I had regular meeting with Dr. Paula Newman-Casey to learn about glaucomas and requirements of visual components. I set up meeting with prior project members to put together lingering issues that I might not know from the regular meetings. The regular meeting with Dr. Newman-Casey was helpful to understand glaucomas and how to visualize the symptom and problems in real life, and how to treat those glaucomas.
Icon & Video Planning
I evaluated usability of the website and prioritize tasks. Compare with visual components, the videos were not done. The video needed to thoroughly explain the glaucoma symptoms and encourage viewers to follow glaucoma prevention methods. I created synopsis and media to visualize the idea.
I released several videos to Kellogg Eye Center and those videos are uploaded to their Youtube channel.
I could understand how ophthalmologist helps his/ her patients follow self-care plan and many healthcare practitioners are involved in helping self-care procedure. Also, I could gain medical knowledge of medical contents making process.
